I had never been the type to enjoy the online world for my work. So this being my first introduction to Evernote I was very apprehensive. Even for other classes where articles and papers had to be researched I enjoyed being in the basement of the library making photocopies than doing research online to find the articles. I could see why many people would enjoy this it allows you to have access to anything you may have seen or read at any given moment. It is like have a personal archive in your back pocket.
I was very lost in the beginning I understood that you can take a picture and it keeps it and that you can put notes on a picture, but I did not see why it was so different until I received a laptop of my own and was able to download Evernote onto my laptop as well. Evernote then made more sense to me because it made the information you saved more easily moveable and interchangeable. I really only used Evernote twice throughout this course, once to test the Skitch aspect of the program and then to upload graphs onto my Context report which was also confusing. After a little patience and a lot of questions I managed to add graphs into my Context report for my school and that was really the only time I had use for it.
I could see it being useful for other individuals in different fields of work. Businesses can use it to share documents or ideas or project proposals. Cooperating teachers can use it to share lesson plans or ideas for a project. I however, was not in any of these situations to find Evernote useful. I never really understood the tags so I did not use them in any of my notes. I also did not make any notebooks as I had mentioned I only really used it to upload graphs so much of my information was in the form of a picture. I could see myself using this in the future as I move farther along in my profession. As I receive my masters I will be involved with a lot of many different professionals in my career, counselors and social workers, parents and other teachers to help organize and develop plans and IEP for various students. Evernote could be a way to share and communicate different ideas or keep notebooks of each child's goals and setbacks. Evernote would be a way to communicate with the people involved in that child's life as well as providing me with a way to separate and have access to each child's information. I could make different notebooks for each child to have separation and a way to communicate different activities I come across to the other professionals to see if it can be something significant that can aide in the progress of the child.
